Talk:OGRE
From GPWiki
The wiki is now hosted by GameDev.NET at wiki.gamedev.net. All gpwiki.org content has been moved to the new server. However, the GPWiki forums are still active! Come say hello. When last I fiddled with OGRE I'm pretty sure I remember it having GUI support (including font rendering) and some basic input handling (mouse and keyboard only). If anyone feels up to confirming it definately does have these then the features list could do with correcting. I just checked the features page over at the OGRE website, and it doesn't say anything about GUI support. Unless someone with actual OGRE experience helps us out, I don't think it's wise to guess if it has GUI support or not. Ryan Clark 20:42, 28 Nov 2004 (EST) OGRE has basic GUI support, but as of the newest version (0.16 if I remember correct) the team behind OGRE has chosen to replace their own GUI system with "Crazy Eddies GUI" (CEGUI). I think I mentioned this on the forum once, but I can't seem to find it. But CEGUI looks really nice, so I think it's a good move for OGRE. Sion, OGRE went from version 0.15.x to 1.0.0. Also, your right, it has very very basic GUI elements but the preference is to use an external GUI, of which Crazy Eddie's comes highly recommended by OGRE's creators. Hope this helps. I also added a section called 'Games using OGRE' to give people links to example material using the engine. I did think about putting it in the related links bit, but decided this made it more easy to find. |
