Better cross-platform graphics library?

Don't you know of better cross platform graphics library then OpenGL or SDL? OpenGL is sometimes overkill while SDL in it's stable version is mostly incomplete to provide programmer with enough details to provide certain level of user friendlines. eg. once you know about setting sdl vide driver through enviroment variable you have no way to probe sdl for supported modes.

FYI, SDL also uses OpenGL. So, claiming that OpenGL is "overkill" compared with SDL is a silly thing to say. --Mecanismo 06:08, 6 September 2006 (EDT)
SDL does not have to use OpenGL. It's often used as a cross-platform way to get a GLRC and handle mouse/keyboard I/O, but it also has it's own software renderer. --pfeilspitze 08:42, 6 September 2006 (EDT)

SUCKAMOD?

Is SUCKAMOD a real audio library? Google doesn't know anything about it.

Google thinks?

We've just referred to Google as a sentient entity. Is this a bad thing? =)
--Johnnie2 07:14, 18 Mar 2005 (EST)

Isn't it? Anyway, I notice that the top of the page says that we have tutorials and/or source code for all of these libraries. We definately don't. Should that be changed? To what?--Snoolas 10:09, 28 Mar 2005 (EST)

Good point. Fixed. Ryan Clark 10:49, 28 Mar 2005 (EST)

Added AI libraries section

I added in a lot of AI libraries. Some are open source and some are commercial. I'll add their very own pages at a later date, but I gave the links to their websites so everyone can check them out. Hope this is helpful!

Definitely some great content. Thanks, luckless666! Ryan Clark 16:15, 7 Apr 2005 (EDT)

Added GUI section

Just added a GUI library category, but I don't know if it should be entitled "GUI" or "Graphical User Interface"? Don't people generally know what GUI means? Sion 12:12, 2 Jun 2005 (EDT)

I think GUI is fine... if people don't know what GUI means, they're probably not in the market for a GUI library anyway :) Ryan Clark 12:58, 2 Jun 2005 (EDT)

Problem in the 3D libraries front

Uhhh, it seems like it says "3D Libraries" at the top, but we have Irrilict and OGRE and Crystal Space and such links under it when only OGL and such really applies to the name of library. We have an engine page... Why are they here? --Snoolas 21:00, 25 Jun 2005 (EDT)

Well, I agree that these could possibly be moved to the Engines page, but I think it's a fine line dividing a library from an engine. If we make a concrete definition of library and of engine, then I'd be down with sorting things out a bit better. Ryan Clark 23:55, 25 Jun 2005 (EDT)

Can't we just say that a library is passive, and an engine is active, taking care of things?

--Almar Joling 03:00, 26 Jun 2005 (EDT)

I'd quite like to have language information, cost/licence information & maybe a one liner. I'm looking to start something probably in Java for platform independence so I'd like to know if there's anything I can use without having to visit every site.

State what licenses are free

I would like to know which libraries are free by a simple tag of FREE or $xx. A one-liner description of each would be helpful too, may I add a couple and can this practice be encouraged? --IGTHORN 14:57, 12 Jul 2005 (EDT)

Add comments as subsections

People, add your comments as subsections. It is easy. You only need to press the "+" instead of the "edit" and then add the comment. If you don't add the comment as a subsection, things start to look like a huge mess. --Mecanismo 06:10, 6 September 2006 (EDT)
