"Game design patterns are small elements that appear in many games or genres" is incorrect.

Your base definition is wrong. Game Design Patterns are patterns of DESIGNING (i.e. planning) games. What your definition seems to be describing is "common game elements"

You're right, that definition is very misleading. Feel free to improve it as you please :) For more on design patterns we've also got a place here --Sion 18:18, 19 June 2006 (EDT)
Hi, I'm the original author of this article. I agree, it is a bit misleading - but only due to what people may think I'm writing about. I intended to be this page to be about things that are common in games. Maybe it should be common game elements - but I wanted it to be more generic. I need to spend more time and put more content into this page, but haven't done so. Will work on it soon though! 86.128.21.13 11:25, 11 January 2007 (EST)
