Files:GUITutorial_warn.gif The Game Programming Wiki has moved! Files:GUITutorial_warn.gif

The wiki is now hosted by GameDev.NET at wiki.gamedev.net. All gpwiki.org content has been moved to the new server.

However, the GPWiki forums are still active! Come say hello.

This page sucks!

I dislike pages that only have the purpose of redirecting a user to another page. Obviously, big lists of links are excusable, but if there's only a couple of links, they might as well have gone on the page that linked to it.

So here's my proposal: Move everything on the Posting Conventions page to this page, clean that content up a bit, and give a link to the sandbox and the MediaWiki editing help near the top.

The stuff in the Posting Conventions isn't all useful either. Don't give lectures about specific markup features; say that as a Wiki, we use a different set of markup symbols and that you must use them. Then give another link to the MediaWiki editing help.

Another thing I'd like to see is a list of features available to the user. For instance, syntax highlighting, math, various templates, etc. I pretty sure most people don't know about these things.

That edit was me.

Yeah, forgot to login...

Anyway, I've started this page off. I updated the posting conventions a bit, and started a list of our special features, but I don't know much about the math stuff, and I didn't feel like writing about the templates right now. :P (It's 3AM, and I can't sleep.) Also, if there are more features that I missed, they should be added to the list. --Dial-Up 02:57, 11 October 2006 (EDT)

Very awesome start, Dial-Up. Thanks a ton! You're right, the page did suck :) --Ryan Clark 03:01, 11 October 2006 (EDT)
I forgot, we also have the posting conventions page, which now seems to overlap this somewhat. Do you think we should merge the two? --Ryan Clark 03:05, 11 October 2006 (EDT)
I actually copied the Posting Conventions page and changed it a bit. I found it annoying that there was a link to it rather than the content being immediately available. --Dial-Up 03:20, 11 October 2006 (EDT)
