GPWiki talk:Protection log
From GPWiki
The wiki is now hosted by GameDev.NET at wiki.gamedev.net. All gpwiki.org content has been moved to the new server. However, the GPWiki forums are still active! Come say hello. Maybe contacting Linktrim will help reducing the spamming. From their site: "Occasionally LinkTrim is by third parties to help spam messageboards and guestbooks. We do not tolerate this abuse of our free service, and we will delete offending links and ban users from creating further links. If your website is affected by spam involving LinkTrim links, please contact us and we will do our best to help you stop these spammers." Hope this helps.
Linktrim are quick off the mark with this. I saw the above comments on their site and intended to report the abuse. However, the three recent redirects were all killed by them by the time I checked. Maybe they could be pro-active and not allow redirects to the IP rather than wait for complaints about new ones. Codehead 06:23, 17 Mar 2005 (EST) [edit] Automated spam protection? How about some automated spam protection measures? Off the top of my head: allow non-admins to change a page only a limited number of times (3?) per hour. I don't know how flexible and extensible the Wiki code is, and if such techniques are even possible, but I am sure this is not the only Wiki facing this problem. Maybe someone has already come up with a solution.
That would be down to Lucky. However, these guys: http://wiki.chongqed.org/ seem to be mounting a fight back. Codehead 07:32, 17 Mar 2005 (EST) |
