The term "portal" is loosely defined. Here are some attributes common to sites that are generally accepted as "portals":

  • Fairly high volume of web traffic
  • Large catalog of (usually casual) games for sale
  • Sell 3rd party games, and often develop their own games, too
  • Maintain some kind of list or page that displayed the best selling (or "Top Ten") games
